Dr Norman who was the only decent doctor at this practice has now left and therefore so have I. The other doctors are not people you would wish to consult, particularly Dr Childs who has a long history of not listening to people and making up her mind what's wrong before you get into her room.
Go elsehwhere is the best advice I can give about this place, I have and am amazed that there are GP receptionists not far away who will greet you with courtesy and a smile and a whole team of GPs who are as good as Dr Norman and who want to listen, help and work positively with you for improvements.
Well the clear out of the old reception team was long overdue and seems at last to have been done. However the old guard seem to have been replaced by a group of people who do not have English as a first language and who struggle with even basic communication face to face and on the phone it is dreadful. The stock answer is unchanged and it's still NO. Equally I'm also now told that it's impossible to book an appointment more than four weeks in advance, that never used to be the case, is it an 'improvement'?
Still room for major improvements at Thameside.
If anyone from this practice is reading this please note: IT IS THE 21ST CENTURY, YOU NEED MORE THAN ONE PHONE LINE! There's no point me going any further because if you can't get through, what's the point?
I've had a few problems recently and needed a number of appointments. Angela on reception has been excellent helping me to get them sorted out and she's so kind and friendly - when you're having a bit of a health scare a kind word and a smile from the receptionist can help a lot. Other receptionists please take note.
I've rated my experience of using the surgery as three star because I think that's fair. It can be much better and unfortunately it can also be much worse. How good or how bad it is depends on who you deal with. I'm delighted to see that at last the staff here are wearing name badges so you know who you are dealing with.
When I arrived for my appointment I had a couple of questions for the receptionist and Angela dealt with them very well and was most pleasant. On the way out I needed to speak to the receptionist again and this time got Elaine. The difference was dramatic, she was most unhelpful, boardering on rude and obstructive. I left the matter I needed to sort out and called the following day when I was able to sort it out on the phone without a problem - but I know I wasn't speaking to Elaine then.
